Alliance Announced Between FOSH and NAWD
Friends of Sound Horses (FOSH) is pleased to announced that it has entered into an Alliance Partnership with North American Western Dressage (NAWD) for 2015 and beyond.
NAWD and FOSH will work together to promote classical principles for all gaited horses through a new virtual show program called “Gaits Wide Open”. Gaits Wide Open shall be modeled after NAWD’s successful virtual show program and feature judges licensed by the Independent Judge’s Association for gaited dressage, both Traditional and Western, with the possibility of expanding into Trail and Groundwork options.
NAWD and FOSH believe that gaited horses and riders can learn, train and excel in any discipline with the same classical training scale ideals of rhythm, relaxation, suppleness, connection, impulsion, and collection that are used by non-gaited breeds.
Plans are in progress for educational activities, events and virtual show opportunities.
Classical horsemanship is for EVERY equestrian. Both FOSH and NAWD (www.nawdhorse.org) welcome gaited horse owners and equine enthusiast who like to ride, try, and have fun with classical horsemanship or are interested in promoting dressage for gaited breeds. If interested, please feel free to contact either organization to become involved as both welcome your enthusiasm, ideas and support.
FOSH is a national leader in the promotion of natural, sound gaited horses and in the fight against abuse and soring of Tennessee Walking Horses. For more information about FOSH, or to become a member, please visit www.fosh.info or call 800-651-7993.
Virtual Dressage Category
Any test published by any of the organizations recognized under this program are acceptable. Tests may be English or Western.
To compete in the Virtual category, tests may be ridden and videoed in a marked Dressage arena either at a Dressage competition or during a personal ride for the purpose of submitting tests for evaluation. Submitted video will be evaluated by IJA judges with a Gaited Dressage license from the Independent Judges Association.
Awards will be given in both Traditional and Virtual categories. In both categories annual awards will be for the following categories: Two Gait, Introductory Level, Training Level, First Level and Second Level. Award categories will be expanded as new tests for gaited horses are developed and approved.
Scores achieved in the Virtual tests will be in a separate category. For the purpose of Awards, there will be no cross over of scores between the Virtual and the Traditional categories. Competitors may submit scores from both traditional and virtual categories, but the scores will be recorded in the category in which competition occurred.
